It’s Winter ❄️ And winter calls for many winter greens that we like to grow in our yard like Methi[Fenugreek], Sarso[Mustard], Dhaniya[Coriander], Palak[Spinach], And so many cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower, Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrots, Radish, Kohlrabi, Peas and many more!
Although we love to eat methi in many forms, whether its methi roti, methi upkari[stir fry], methi pulao, methi paratha, methi saag, methi dal… this time we made a delicious methi murgh with fresh homegrown methi! If you think methi turns any dish bitter… you must try it with homegrown tender methi… you will be surprised! It not only tastes delish but gives your taste buds a celebration and boost your health is extra bonus! So prepare this mouth-watering hot hot methi chicken recipe to beat the cold this winter and eat with some ghee roti/ phulkas or dal rice.

Methi Chicken With Homegrown Methi | Fenugreek Chicken | Methi Murgh
Ingredients
To Marinate:
- Yogurt- 1/4th cup
- Salt as per taste
- Turmeric Powder- 1 tsp
- coriander powder- 1 tsp
- Red Chilli Powder- 2 tsp
- Garam Masala Powder- 1 tsp
- Fresh Fenugreek Leaves- 2 cups
Other Ingredients:
- Oil- 2 tbsp
- Ghee- 2 tbsp
- Ginger-Garlic Paste- 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
- Red Onion (chopped)- 1
- Tomatoes(chopped)- 2
- Green Chilies- 2 slit
- Salt
- 500 gms Chicken
Instructions
Pre- Preparation:
- Wash chicken and pat dry before marination.
- Then marinate the chicken with salt, yogurt/curd, turmeric powder, red chilly powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder, and methi/fenugreek.
- Keep aside for at least 15 minutes.
To Prepare Methi Murgh:
- Take a Kadai/Pan and add oil/ghee.
- Add jeera and black pepper to hot oil/ghee. saute for a minute.
- Put ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes off.
- Put chopped onions and fry till onions turn soft.
- Now add marinated chicken and fry nicely on medium flame.
- Do not add any water.
- Close and cook on medium flame till the chicken is half cooked.
- Open and check the chicken and add chopped tomatoes.
- Add required salt as per taste and cook till the chicken is fully cooked.
- You can add little extra garam masala at the end if you prefer.
- Finish with squeezing half a lemon and mix everything nicely.
- This methi murgh masala can be served with roti, chapati, or phulkas, OR as a side dish with rice and dal. Don't forget to serve some cucumber onion salad with it.
