How to Avoid Paying $139 for Amazon Prime and keep Old Benefits

“As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.”

A price increase for Amazon Prime was announced during Amazon’s earnings report on Thursday. The price change will go into effect on Feb. 18, 2022, and for current Prime members, the new price will apply after March 25, 2022, on the date of their next renewal.

An annual Prime subscription will go from $119 to $139. For those who subscribe on a month-to-month basis, the price will be increased from $12.99 per month to $14.99 per month. The Prime Student price is also reportedly going up from $59 per year to $69 per year.

How to keep the same price for Amazon Prime:

Fortunately, we found an awesome way to keep the same price for at least another year even after the increase! You need to be quick since you can only do it before February 18th. See steps below:

  • Buy yourself an Annual Prime Gift Membership.
  • Go to the Prime membership plans to disable auto-renew.
  • Click ‘Manage Membership’
  • Click ‘End Membership’
(Opt to click on ‘Keep My Benefits’ to keep your Prime membership in effect until it expires)
  • Once your membership expires, just apply the Gift Membership to your account and get another full year of Prime for just $119!
